Every athlete knows how important it is to balance recovery and activity. Yet in our lives and certainly in relation to work, as Brene Brown so accurately says: ‘it takes courage to say yes to rest and play in a culture where exhaustion is seen as a status symbol’. Burn out has dire and long-lasting consequences for those that slide down the scale, as I found out.
